It often happens that when you apply a vinyl decal yourself, you might lose the grip of the end, and it may get wrinkled or turn into a clump. But not to worry! We are here to help you with the installation of your decal effectively.

If we go in-depth then, Along with the wet method, there is another method that is used for vinyl graphics installation, known as the “dry method”. In this method, a transfer tape is used to transfer the decal on the surface like a sticker. But the main reason why the wet method is preferred for non-professional installers is that it is easy to apply as compared to the dry one. You can easily move your decal during the application, and it doesn’t get stuck in the wrong position.

While using the wet method, one thing that you need to especially keep in mind is, DO NOT GET YOUR DECAL TOO WET!!. The main key is to keep your surface where you want to apply your decal and your vinyl decal wet.

8 Easy Steps To Apply Your Decal:

Here are the steps that you should follow to apply a perfect decal and in the right position.

Step 1- Remove the back paper:

The first step is to remove your decal from the wax paper, or if your decal has an adhesive mask you should remove it. Keep the lettering or its pieces together as it gets different to keep them together once you have removed the back.

Step 2- Apply the solution:

The next step is to apply the soapy water solution to the adhesive side of your vinyl graphic to get it wet. Keep in mind not to get it too wet.

Step 3- Spread the solution:

The next step is to make sure that you have completely covered your vinyl decal adhesive back with the soapy solution. You can use your fingers to spread the water on your decal’s back.

Step 4- Wet the surface that you want to apply the decal to:

After you have completely covered your decal with the soapy water, it is recommended that you also spray the surface that you want to apply your decal to with the soapy solution too.

Step 5- Place your decal on the surface:

Next, you need to place your wet decal on the surface that you have previously applied water.

Step 7- Smooth out your decal:

Now, to smooth the surface of your decal you can use a card or a squeegee on the surface of your decal. This will help you push out any air bubbles or the soapy solution left under the decal. It is advised that you work in a single direction. For example, if you have started using the card or the squeegee from top to bottom then you should maintain the direction.

Step 8- Let the solution dry out:

You shouldn’t worry if your decal is a little slippery. Once the solution has dried out, your decal will stick to the surface.
